The boys were invited to Grandpa Monte’s staff kids’ Christmas party again this year. They had a blast (it was at the new science centre). The highlight, of course, was the visit from Santa. No tears this year! Maguire was unsure, but sat still while the camera snapped away. Jakzen waited — very patiently — for his turn to sit on Santa’s knee. And he knew exactly what to do. There was zero hesitation when he was asked what he wanted for Christmas. An e-reader. Santa said…”um, pardon me??” Yes, that’s right. My 3.5 year old wants an e-reader. *sigh*

Cute sidenote: Jak’s present from Santa at the party was some Lego. When he opened it, he said, “I guess Santa is all out of e-readers”.

Shopping sidenote: Santa wants to get Jakzen the V-Tech Innotab (which Santa will be calling an e-reader…), but everywhere we’ve checked has been sold out. If you see any, please text/call me! Santa needs some help.

Best Halloween Yet

Halloween was AWESOME this year. Not only did both boys love trick-or-treating, but they loved passing out the candy at Nana’s house even more. It was so cute to see them loading up other kid’s bags with treats. Sweet. Cute. Fun. Awesome. Already looking forward to next year! This mama is still smiling.

Now for the costumes…

Jak — in keeping with the Jak-themed costumes — was……JAK FROST.

Maguire had to have something that went with his big bro…well, in an opposite sorta way anyway. Introducing MR. GOLDEN SUN. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

43 Months

Jakzen is 43 months old today — 5 months away from the big FOUR. Right now, he’s upstairs, sound asleep. Right now the house is quiet. That will change in a few short hours. Our days are never boring, that’s for sure. Today Maguire was outside and I was calling him thru the window, trying to get him to come inside. Jakzen came over, pushed me outta the way and said, “Mom, let me handle this. I can do this because I’m a big bruzzer (brother).” So he called Maguire, and Maguire came. For him. Not me. And then he was so proud of himself. Just one of the many ways he made me smile today.

He’s quickly leaving the toddler world behind and so super, crazy fast becoming a boy — a full-on likes-to-wrestle, loves-He-man, so-excited-to-try-new-things, busy, sweet, caring, goofy boy. I love seeing things thru his eyes, and even more, I love how his pure enthusiasm for the littlest things forces me to slow down and enjoy ‘em right along with him.

This photo was taken when we were camping this summer. There was a fire ban so we had to make our s’mores on the BBQ.

Jak didn’t mind. In fact, he gave ‘em his full, whole-hearted approval.

Last Week in Review

Phewf. We had a busy week around here. Not only was it Stampede week (which means longer hours for Nick), but the house was full of visitors all week, too — first, my parents, and then my sister and nephews. And, of course, because there was so much going on, I completely, totally forgot to charge any batteries for all cameras and therefore the following photos are courtesy of my trusty iPhone. But I don’t even care…because it was a great week and these are photos captured some great memories, and sometimes that’s all that matters…
